Packaging and Contents.
The XTAR VX4 Limited Edition Gift Set comes packaged in a hardshell case which features an embossed XTAR logo
The case measures 20.5cm x 17.0cm x 6.5cm and weighs 804G.
Once unzipped the hardshell case reveals a soft flocked internal finish and four separate elasticated netted storage areas.
You get supplied with the following (contents may change for the non 18th Anniversary Limited Edition Gift Set): 1x VX4 Charger, 1x USB-C/USB-C Cable, 1x UK Wall Plug, 4x AA Batteries, 1x Battery Storage Box, 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide.
The supplied USB-C/USB-C cable measures approximately 80cm in length, and being XTAR, you know it’ll be of the usual high standard XTAR usually supply.

I’ll now focus on the star of the gift set, the VX4 Charger. The charger measures approximately 16.5cm x 12.5cm x 4.0cm and weighs 319G.
If you’ve used any XTAR visible mixer charger previously, you’ll be familiar straight away with the VX4, the negative spring-loaded battery poles to accommodate your chosen battery will feel familiar and give you that level of reassurance of both safety and ease of use.
You get multiple heat dissipation cooling fins that aid with the heat whilst charging batteries, and the underside features raised pins to slightly raise the VX4 to help further with heat rejection. There is no anti-slip feet, which I feel would help with use on smooth surfaces such a table for example, but that’s merely a personal request.

You get three user control buttons on the front of the unit, these are the (from left to right) C/V button, Mode button, and the mAh/mWh button, more on these below.
- C/V Button: This button switches charging current levels, long pressing allows you to switch between standard, and LiFePO 4 modes. Under standard capacity function, long pressing the C/V button to enter LiFePO 4 capacity measurement function.
- Mode Button: During charging a single click switches between displaying real-time charging current and charged capacity; long pressing allows you to switch between charging and capacity measuring functions. Under LiFePO 4 charging mode, long pressing allows you to enter LiFePO 4 capacity measuring function.
- mAh/mWh Button: During the discharging process of a 1.5V Li-ion battery under capacity measuring function, a single click switches the display between mAh and mAw, long pressing to turn off the LCD backlight.
You get a single USB-C port located to the tip of the charger itself, having this universal port is excellent for portable charging use, so long as you have a USB-C power source, the VX4 will work.

As with most XTAR chargers, the VX4 uses an automatic recognition system of understanding what type of battery has been inserted and automatically charging to the correct specifications of that particular battery.
For most users, the automatic system is more than adequate to charge their batteries.
You can even use a mixture of different batteries and the VX4 will automatically charge accordingly.
When a battery has been fully charged the charger will stop charging, again, automatically.
