Today I’ll be writing about the gw-Power PD Wall Charger. This UK wall adaptor features both a USB-A and USB-C charging port.
gw-Power advertise on this charger can deliver a 50% charge to your USB-C device in 30 minutes. It features Quick Charge (QC) 3.0 technology.
Both charging ports can be used simultaneously without any power loss.
So, is this wall charger any good? Time to test it out!
Packaging and Contents.
The gw-Power PD Wall Charger comes in a small cardboard box which features product images and printed specifications. The outer box measures 11.0cm x 7.5cm x 5.5cm and weighs 90G.
Inside the box you’ll find 1x Wall charger.
gw-Power PD Wall Charger.
The gw-Power PD Wall Charger is made from durable plastic materials. It’s White with Black detailing. The plug measures 6.0cm in height x 4.0cm in width and has a depth (when plugged into a wall) 3.0cm.
This plug features a fire-retardant casing and the internal components feature rapid cooling capabilities. So, should be safe for use in the house and also protect your devices too.
Testing the gw-Power PD Wall Charger.
To test I’ll be using the AVHzY CT-2 USB Power Meter Load Tester. This tester has the capabilities to test both USB-A and USB-C ports.
gw-Power advertise that the USB-A port can do the following outputs:
- 5V/3A
- 9V/2A
- 12V/1.5A
Upon using the AVHzY tester I managed to record the following (I can only test 5V as the load tester will only go to this reading): 5V/3.5A.
The USB-C port is advertised as being capable of doing:
- 5V/3A
- 9V/2A
- 12V/1.5A
I managed to record 5V/3A.
So, the gw-Power PD Wall Charger can achieve what is being advertised. Quite impressive.
The wall charger has a power rating of 18W, which again is true as this came up on the tester too.
The quick charge function is again true, I managed to charge my Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 to around 50% in around the 30 minute mark.
