GLiME LED Mini PAR Light.
The GLiME LED Mini PAR Light is made from mixed materials, these include plastic and metals. The light itself measures 17.5cm x 17.5cm x 10.0cm and weighs 525G.
On the back of the light is where the main control settings can be found. You’ll see a DMX In Port, DMX Out Port, Menu Button, Up Button, Down Button, Enter Button, and a LCD display.
This light also comes with a small in-built 12V brushless cooling fan to assist with heat dissipation.
You get a main power lead with a UK standard BS1363 plug with a fitted 13A fuse. The power lead has a length of 1M.
PAR Lighting.
The acronym of PAR stands for Parabolic Aluminised Reflector. PAR lights are widely used in stage lighting for blending a mixture of LED colours together to form another blended colour form, in this instance blends of Red, Green and Blue.
Using the GLiME LED Mini PAR Light.
Firstly, you’ll need to plug the light into a mains powered electrical socket. Now you get two ways of controlling the light, you can either use the control buttons directly on the light itself or use the remote control.
There are 10 different menu options if using the menu button on the back of the light, some of which don’t apply to normal everyday use.
The menu options are:
- D001 ~ D512 – DMX console mode
- CC01 ~ CC64 – Colour selection (Use up/down keys to select colour combinations)
- RB01 ~ RB16 – Gradient (Use up/down keys to select speed settings)
- PL01 ~ PL16 – Colour Selection (Use up/down keys to select colour combinations)
- SD01 ~ SD16 – Jump (Use up/down keys to change settings)
- FL01 ~ FL16 – Strobe (Use up/down keys to select speed settings)
- SOUD -Light changes effect caused by background noise/music.
- R000 ~ R255 – Red Manual Dimming (Use up/down keys to change settings)
- G000 ~G255 – Green Manual Dimming (Use up/down keys to change settings)
- B000 ~ B255 – Blue Manual Dimming (Use up/down keys to change settings)
I found the easiest setting was to leave it either SOUD for automatic pick-up of sound and the lights will flash accordingly to the music being played or set the light to option 3 (Random automatic play mode).
Remote Control.
The GLiME LED Mini PAR Light comes with a remote control that allows you to operate and alter changes to your light. I found the signal very poor between the light and the remote control. I had to get within 1M of the light to even pick up a signal, at which point it’s just easier to use the control buttons on the back directly.
The remote control comes supplied with a 3V Lithium CR2025 button cell battery, I tested mine to make sure that the battery wasn’t at fault for the lack of signal and mine tested 3.2V. So, the remote is generally poor in signal.
If you’re able to get the remote control to function properly you’re supposed to be able to control everything like the above menu settings.

Conclusion.
I really like this light, it’s super bright (almost blinding) and when cycling automatically through the colour settings it’s great. The manual controls are difficult to understand, and this task is made more difficult due to the poorly written English user guide. The remote control, although a nice feature is useless and not worth using. I found it easier to control settings directly from the light itself.
Improvements to both the user guide and remote control will turn this light from good to excellent.
Overall though it’s a good quality light that produces a brilliant LED lighting display and I recommend this for a disco or party.
