UGREEN Revodok Pro 209

Today I’ll be writing a review for the UGREEN Revodok Pro 209. This is the largest UGREEN USB-C hub I’ve reviewed, not in terms of expansion, but in sheer size, the Pro 209 is a chunky boy.

The UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 is a 9-in-1 USB-C docking station that features 2x HDMI ports, 2x DisplayPort, a 100W USB-C Power Delivery Port, a 10Gbps USB-C 3.2 Gen2 Data Port, 2x 10Gbps USB-A 3.2 Gen2 Data Port and a 1000Mbps Ethernet Port.

You can use both HDMI ports and both DisplayPorts of the UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 to connect two 4K@60Hz monitors to your MacBook ,and each monitor can display different content to make multitasking a breeze.

You’re able to transfer files in seconds. With three USB 3.2 Gen2 ports on the UGREEN Revodok Pro 209, a mixture of USB-A and USB-C, and all of the USB ports offer 10Gbps performance, enough to transfer a 10GB file in just over 16 seconds. Yes, that’s correct, not a typo, a 10GB file in 16 seconds!

You’re free to utilise the 85W pass-through power port (USB-C) to keep charging your device and use the docking station at the same time.

So, is this docking station any good? Time to test it out!

Packaging and Contents.

The UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 comes packaged in a white sleeved box which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 20.0cm x 11.4cm x 4.7cm and weighs 510G.

Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Adapter, 1x USB-C/USB-C Cable, and 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide.

Unlike the previous UGREEN docking stations I’ve reviewed, the Pro 209 features a removable USB-C cable. I prefer this to be honest, not having thought about it previously, but having a removable cable does make more sense, meaning you’re free to use the supplied 1M cable, or switch things up with a UGREEN 2M cable. I would always recommend UGREEN cables, been using them for a while now and can’t rate them highly enough.

UGREEN Revodok Pro 209.

The UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 measures 165mm x 80mm x 24mm and weighs 357G. The outer casing is made from aluminium, which not only adds strength, but also helps with heat too. Another feature on the Pro 209 not seen on the docking stations is the addition of a power switch.

On the underside you get two rubberised strips, these add a little friction on smooth surfaces, such as a desk.

UGREEN have added four cooling areas, two on each end of the UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 to help with heat dissipation.

Ports.

The UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 has 10 separate ports. Let me explain what each does below:

  • Ethernet: You get a single RJ45 port on the side of the Revodok. Supporting 10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiation, so you’re able to use your ultra-fast internet connection.
  • USB-A: You get two USB-A ports. You’re able to enjoy transfer rates of up to 10GBps on both USB-A ports, or use these ports to expand on your USB devices such as a computer mouse, keyboard, etc.
  • USB-C: You get three USB-C ports, one of which allows a 10GBps file transfer, the other can be used for either your USB-C devices such as flash drives and external HDD/SDD peripherals, or can also be used for 85W pass-through Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0).
  • HDMI: You get two HDMI ports, both HDMI ports allow for a 4K@60HZ resolution. (The video output resolution depends on the laptop’s video bandwidth, the HDMI cable being used, and the maximum resolution supported by the display device.
  • DP: You get two DisplayPorts which support a 4K@60Hz resolution. (The video output resolution depends on the laptop’s video bandwidth, the DP cable being used, and the maximum resolution supported by the display device.

Unlike the previous Revodok docking stations that I’ve reviewed, the Pro 209 requires a driver installation from UGREEN. Simply connect the docking station to your device, and choose from one of three options to download your driver.

  1. Double click “This PC” > click “Driver Install” > then select the corresponding driver for your device.
  2. Check your system edition, then install or update the corresponding driver from https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/downloads this is the correct URL, the URL in the manual is incorrect and points to a 404 error page.
  3. Search 90912 (product number) from the UGREEN official website, although it points to the above URL in any case. But I guess if there are any updates it’ll be on the UGREEN product page.

Display.

You get two display modes for Windows. The first is duplicate mode, which itself has two display options.
The first allows one screen to mirror the source screen, and another screen can display a different image to the source.
The second allows two screens to display the host images.

You also can use extended mode, and enjoy two different display screens (one is the source, two are additional monitors). Simply press the Windows key and P simultaneously to select your display mode.

For macOS press the Apple icon > System Preferences > Displays > check the “Mirror Displays” option. The macOS is more limited compared to Windows. You can use the macOS extend mode, and see three display images (One host, two separate monitor images).

The UGREEN Revodok Pro 209 is compatible with Windows 11 and 10, macOS Monterey (version 12), macOS Big Sur (version 11). Earlier versions of Windows (Windows 2000 (SP1 to SP4), Windows OSes/Windows Server 2003) are not supported.

Conclusion.

I’m very impressed with the UGREEN Revodok Pro 209. It’s certainly a quality piece, well-made (as you’d expect from UGREEN), not only that, but with transfer speeds of 10GBs in around 16 seconds, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything to compete with that rate. I can’t praise this docking station enough, another fantastic product from UGREEN, one that any programmer or streamer would love to have.
