TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds

Today I’ll be reviewing the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds. I was recently approached by TOZO asking for a review these wireless earbuds. A quick Google search later, I was impressed with the specs.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds feature a 12mm dynamic driver, producing harmonized treble and bass for ultimate sound quality. They’re capable of reproducing treble up to 44.1kHz, which is higher than the 20kHz that humans can hear. They can even restore the ultrasonic sound of dolphins.

Bass junkie? The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds produce 12Hz of bass, that’s below the 20Hz that humans can hear. Meeting the requirements of even the most demanding audiophile.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds support Orig X high-quality sound technology, which is a wide frequency technology that supports 12Hz to 44.1kHz. That’s not all, the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds also pass the JAS (Japan Audio Association) Hi-Res (High-Resolution Audio) wireless certification for excellent quality.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds also feature LDAC a proprietary audio coding technology developed by Sony, which allows streaming high-resolution audio over Bluetooth connections at up to 990 kbps at 24 bit/96 kHz.

You also get Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The Active anti-noise mechanism allows people to enjoy music without raising the volume too much. 6 different ANC modes are available, all designed with Environment noise reduction technology, can block 90% of background noise, thus reducing ambient noise by up to 35dB.

And that’s not all! You even get a fully customisable audio experience via the TOZO app.

So, are they any good? Time to test them out!

Packaging and Contents.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds come packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. This box is well designed and features a magnetic closure. The box measures 18.0cm x 12.0cm x 5.0cm and weighs 370G.

Opening the magnetic closure will reveal the internal packaging, TOZO have brilliantly designed this to not only provide protection, but also show off your earbuds.

Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Battery Case1x Pair of Earbuds (with standard sized tips attached), 5x Additional Pairs of Silicone Tips, 1x USB-A/USB-C Charger Cable, 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide.

TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds are black in colour, with a gold TOZO logo, each earbuds measures 24.2mm x 16.1mm x 26.8mm and weighs 5.8G. The outer shells are made from Polymer Composites, and have a non-sheen finish, so no mucky fingerprints to be seen.

The charging case measures 70.0mm x 38.0mm x 35.0mm and weighs 46.7G, The charging case features a 500mAH Lithium Ion battery, on the back you’ll see a USB-C charging port.

The supplied USB-A/USB-C cable measures 30.0cm in length, but you’re free to use any USB-C cable. That’s not all, you can also recharge your battery case wirelessly using QI technology, although this takes slightly longer to charge with a 5V⎓400mA charge in comparison to the standard 5V⎓500mA USB-C cable method.

Both methods allow you to charge both earbuds and the case simultaneously. The charge cycle via the USB-C method takes around 2 hours and is indicated with a pulsing white LED light on the front of the case. This stops when fully charged. A red light is visible on the battery case if the remaining battery level is 20% or under.

A fully charged battery case can provide 4 earbud charging cycles, you get 8 hours of audio play time each charge, so the battery case provides upto 32 hours of audio playtime. Audio playtime is dependent on volume and ANC settings, with an average time of 5 hours when taking these into consideration.

When charging the earbuds, a pulsing battery percentage indicator level is visible inside the battery case.

App.

Once charged you’ll need to pair via Bluetooth to your device. Next, and this is optional, but I highly recommend it, you must download the TOZO app. It’s available to both Android and iOS users. Why I hear you ask? Well, with the TOZO app you’re able to fully customise your X1 earbuds to suit your audio taste, you can take advantage of six Active Noise Cancellation choices, yes that’s right, six! You can choose from:

• Transparency Mode
• Reduce Wind Noise
• Leisure Mode
• Normal Mode
• Custom Pattern (choose your own ANC level from a 1-10 scale)

You can even take a quick hearing test, this enables the TOZO AI algorithms to produce the best possible sound in accordance with your hearing capabilities.

The above screenshot shows my hearing test, according to TOZO I need AI help with low frequency sounds. I would like to say I thought it was going to say a lot worse, 6 years of reviewing, and a lot of audio products I had expected a lot worse ?

Obviously, I still have selective hearing when it comes to Mrs Hints asking me to do chores ?

You can also choose the sound effect via the TOZO app too. You get 16 choices, which are:

You’re able to custom each of these to further suit your requirements, you can slide the graph upward/downward to your desired level.

Obviously being a bass lover, I went for the bass mode.

Controls.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds feature a touch-sensitive control area on both earbuds, you’re able to control everything from volume to activation of your mobile phone voice assistant. I’ll pop below what each earbud can do.

As you can see there’s quite a lot to remember, but I can honestly say the touch control is easy to use. Sometimes these touch control systems are a pain, with misjudging touch or they lag, but I found no issues with the TOZO controls at all. They’re accurate and easy to use, thanks to a wide touch sensitive area.

You’re also able to control audio from your device if you prefer, it’ll all instantly sync up with the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds.

Sound Quality.

Now we come onto the most important factor, the sound quality. I absolutely love the sound quality. The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds produce some excellent audio tones, you can customise the sound to suit your own choice, so if the sound isn’t to your liking, then do something about it, it’s on you. I found absolutely no distortion whatsoever, even when maxed out the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds still perform the same as lower volume levels.

The ANC is the best I’ve ever experienced, like total noise blocking, nothing at all can be heard. They can’t block out human voices, but all background noise will be blocked out Nosie Cancellation mode. You haven’t heard a totally immersive audio experience until you’ve tried the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds on Noise Cancellation mode. As an autistic man, I get very overwhelmed in public spaces (too noisy, too peopley innit) but felt very comfortable being in my own blocked out from my environment audio world.

The best ANC earbuds I’ve tried, by far! No air pressure feeling when in ANC mode too, another huge bonus. Well done to TOZO for achieving this.

Other Features.

The advertised Bluetooth range is 10M, but I easily got to 20M without any signal loss, this is all possible thanks to Bluetooth V5.3. Also, there’s no huge delay when watching video, usually you get some sync issues with mouth movement and audio, but this is not noticeable with the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds.

Calls are also clear, crisp and with no signal issues, the built-in microphone works incredibly well. You get ENC Environmental Noise Cancellation with phone calls, you’re bale to cancel or suppress all ambient background noise while protecting the subject’s voice.

Wrapping up the review now but need to add the TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds are also IPX6 waterproof rated, so ideal for rain/sweat and the Nano-coating repels surface water too.

Conclusion.

The TOZO Golden X1 Earbuds are the best sounding pair of earbuds I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. They’re simply awesome, with clear audio quality. I have been wearing them for a couple of weeks, for a few hours each day and can honestly say not only do they sound amazing, they’re also super-comfortable too. I can’t find anything to improve on with the X1 earbuds, they’re simply brilliant, and perfect for everyday use too.
