Today I’m going to be reviewing the Tile Mate. This small, portable device attaches to almost any item that you deem to be of great importance.
Once attached you can locate and find your chosen item with great ease. Listen out for an audible tone if your belonging is located nearby or locate it on a map if it’s located further away.
The replaceable CR1632 battery will last around a year too, and replacement batteries are very inexpensive and available from all major retailers.
But is the Tile Mate any good? Is it easy to set up? Time to test it out!
Packaging and Contents.
The Tile Mate comes packaged very neatly in a small cardboard box which features product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 12.2cm x 12.2cm x 1.0cm and weighs 60G.
Inside the box your Tile Mate is protected with a foam insert.
Inside the box you’ll find; 1x Tile Mate, 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide, 1x Warranty Information.
The Tile Mate is Grey and White and is made from plastic materials. The tracker is small and measures only 3.5cm x 3.5cm x 0.5cm and weighs a mere 7G.
You get a replaceable CR1632 button cell battery which will last around 12 months, replacement batteries are available from all major retailers, including Amazon.

To remove the battery, you need to simply slide of the back cover, an audible tone will then start to play. Insert a new battery and re-attach the cover. It’s that simple!
Setting up the Tile Mate.
The Tile Mate works by using its very own app. This app is called Tile app and is available for free to all Android and iOS smartphone users. Simply head over to the Google Play Store for Android users, or the App Store for iOS users and search ‘Tile App’. Now simply download the app as you would do with any other app.
Once downloaded you need to open the app. You’ll see an option called ‘Get Started’ located on the bottom right-hand side of the screen. The next page is where you can add a device. The Tile Mate should be the top option on that page, press it and you’ll now need to create a free user account.
You can sign up using your email address or you can create an account using your Facebook account. I opted for the email and password combination. I then had to enter a unique 6-digit code contained within a sent email and enter it onto the app screen.
The next couple of pages will walk you through step-by-step on how to pair your Tile Mate to your app. But I’ll also walk you through these steps too. Press the Tile button on the Mate, an audible tone will be heard. Place the Tile next to your phone, pairing can take a few minutes, so be patient.
And, that’s it, your good to go!
Using the App.
You can also access a live map too and see where your treasured belonging has been.
If you’ve lost your tagged item, you need to simply press it on the screen and then press the Green ‘Find’ button. Your Tile Mate will start to ring. If you hold onto your device and you’ll see a set of rings get larger the closer you approach your item. When you’re really close your phone will also vibrate too.
You can also use the Tile Mate to locate your phone if you’ve been unlucky and lost that. Simply press the Tile logo twice and your phone will start to ring. This works even if your phone is on silent!
The Tile Mate uses both Bluetooth and GPS locating technology. If your Tile Mate is within 45M of your phone the Tile Mate will sound. Outside of this distance you’ll need to access the GPS map and hope some other Tile user has ‘pinged’ your mate, the map will then update to show you the last known location. All very clever!
Using the Tile Mate.
My youngest daughter is 9 and is forever losing items, so I thought this tracker would be the ideal tracker for her things. So, I attached the Tile Mate to our front door key and sent her out to play. Having the tracker attached gives you great peace of mind as you can track down and locate your property with ease. I was able to locate our key within a matter of minutes.
The audible tone is quite loud on the tracker, which makes finding it easier too.
I couldn’t fault it at all.

I really like the Tile Mate. It’s easy to set up and use and is a useful item to have. The only negative point is the marketing from Tile, they keep pushing for you to go premium to unlock more features, which I believe are not needed. The basic free version is more than adequate for everyday use.
Other than the marketing point of view the tracker is very good. It works well, and I believe it to be excellent value for money.
I cannot praise this little tracker enough and I highly recommend you purchase one today.
