Today I’m going to be writing a review for the NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet. To be honest I’d never heard of the brand until I received an email from their marketing department offering me some cool products to review. I chose the LCD Writing Tablet as it promises to reduce unnecessary paper use.

That was nearly 2 months ago an I’ve only just got around to writing the review, and I’ve fully tried out the tablet in this time.

So, what is this LCD tablet all about? Is it any good? Time to test it out!

Packaging and Contents.

The NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet comes packaged in a White cardboard box with product images and manufacturer promises printed all over it. The box measures 28.5cm x 20.5cm x 1.5cm and weighs 300G.

Upon opening the box you’ll find the following; 1x Tablet, 1x Stylus, 1x Stylus Cord.

NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet.

The NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet is Black in Colour (Other colours are available) and measures 26.0cm x 17.0cm x 0.5cm and has a screen size of around 25.5cm (10 Inch. It’s also very lightweight too, weighing just 200G.

On the front you’ll see the NEWYES logo, this is the main button that’s needed to delete the screen.

On the bottom edge there’s an on/off toggle switch. This switch enables you to lock the delete button and prevent accidental deletion of the screen. Further along the bottom edge is where the CR2032 button cell battery is located, it comes already pre-installed and ready for use. Replacement batteries are easily found almost everywhere in shops and online. Remember to recycle your old batteries!

On the reverse there’s a plain White background, this means you can use a whiteboard marker and manually wipe this out as you’d expect from a standard whiteboard.

Using the Tablet.

Now let’s get onto using the NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet. It’s very lightweight and feels a little fragile to the touch, but I can assure you it’s not fragile at all. I threw it multiple times onto the floor, and it continues to work as normal. So, if you accidentally drop it, it should be OK!

The actual writing on the tablet feels a bit like you’re using a kids magnetic drawing board, the stylus and screen combo feels quite scratchy and produces a loud scribbling sound. So, everyone around you will notice you using the tablet to take notes!

The lock toggle switch does an excellent job at preventing the screen from being deleted as it’s very easy to do whilst you’re using the tablet, so remember to lock it prior to writing. But, remember to unlock it again to delete the scree, I’ve seen many comments online with people saying the screen won’t delete only to find out the button is in the locked position.

The text colour being written is a strange Green/Blue colour and takes some time to get used to and in low light conditions is quite hard to see this text colour.

One thing which I did find annoying is if you make a mistake, you’ll need to put up with it or delete the whole screen, there’s not an option to delete what you’ve just done.

Overall, it works great, will it convert paper users? It’s OK for the odd note here and there but isn’t a solution for a long-term replacement for using paper.

Conclusion.

The NEWYES LCD Writing Tablet is OK. It works great for the odd doodle and for quick note taking, but it’s not a paper replacement. The colour of the LCD text also makes it hard to see in low-light conditions and it’s annoying you must delete the whole screen if you make a slight mistake.

I think the tablet is more suited to children, who can draw and create without any pens causing damage to your house.
