Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights. I haven’t reviewed for Aourow previously, so when they approached me asking for a review, I was certainly intrigued, they have quite the awesome product range on Amazon.

These LED outdoor lights have a few features, which I’ll explain in this review, but for the incredible RRP of £19.99, they certainly have a lot to offer. The supplied remote control controls everything from light modes, brightness, and time selection.

You get 8 different light modes, Combination, In Waves, Sequential, Slo Glo, Chasing/Flash, Slow Fade, Twinkle/Flash, Steady On.

You’re able to choose the time these lights are on too, choose from 3H/5H/8H/switch off, and control the brightness from 25%, 50%, 75%, to 100%.

But, the biggest selling factor to the Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights is the twin charging feature. You can utilise the solar charging feature, or, use the USB-C charging port.

So, are these lights any good? Time to test them out!

The Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights come packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 24.0cm x 9.0cm x 20.0cm and weighs 743G.

Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights.

The Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights come with 25 G40 LED lights, on a 15M light string. Each light measures around 5.0cm in height, with a globe size of 4.0cm x 4.3cm. Each light features a hook on top too.

The total cable length is 15M, with a 50.0cm space interval between each light. You’re able to unscrew each globe casing too, ideal for cleaning. The light output is a warm white (2700 Kelvin).

It’s worth noting these lights have an IP44 rating only, so considered to be splash-proof only, so bear that in mind and try to prevent water from getting into the solar panel.

Solar Panel.

The solar panel measures 10.2cm x 8.4cm x 2.5cm and weighs 129G. There’s also a hanging hook on top too, the bracket on the bottom slides into the ground spike. When installing, angle the solar panel towards the sun (sounds obvious I know) and avoid shady areas, such as trees for example.

You can control most of the features on the solar panel itself too. You can switch on/off via the on/off button, control light modes by quickly pressing the mode button, pressing and holding adjusts the brightness levels. But, you can’t control the timer function on the solar panel.

You’ll see the rubber cover for the USB-C charging port. This enables you to charge the built-in 1200mAh battery, or you can use the solar panel to recharge the battery too. The light up battery level tells you the battery percentage, it’ll also pulse upwards when charging too and become a solid light when fully charged.

I took apart the solar panel to ensure a 1200mAh battery was included.

Can confirm a Hongli 18650 3.7V 1200mAh battery has been installed. It’s a branded battery cell, and also means with a soldering iron you’re able to replace the battery in the future too.

It takes around 8 hours to fully charge the battery (via solar power) and the light will power on for a solid 12 hours on a full charge too.

Remote Control.

The supplied remote control measures 85.5mm x 39.5mm x 6.2mm and weighs a mere 13G. You’re able to control all the features of the Aourow LED Solar Festoon Lights. You can also select the timer feature too. Choose from 4, 6, or 8 hours on time. You can also select the timer to be off, the lights will default back to on permanently until sunlight has been detected, and then turn off and start charging.

You get around 5M in transmission distance between the remote control, and the receiver on the solar panel, but this can also be determined by obstacle obstructions too.
