The Amteker Rainbow Projector is an LED light reflecting projector that projects a colourful multi-coloured light onto any wall surface.
You get 5 LED lamps that light up the mirrored surface which then reflects this light onto a wall, thus giving the effect of a rainbow in your home.
You can use the supplied power cable or if you prefer use 4x AAA batteries, you also have two lighting modes to choose from also.
But is this light any good? Is it just a gimmick? Time to test it out!
The Amteker Rainbow Projector comes packaged very neatly in a cardboard box which features product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 25.0cm x 13.0cm x 12.5cm and weighs 330G.
Upon opening the Amteker Rainbow Projector box you’ll find the following items. 1x Light, 1x USB Power Lead, 1x Chinese/English User Guide.
Amteker Rainbow Projector.
The Amteker Rainbow Projector is made from plastic and is White in colour, the light measures 23.5cm in width x 11.0cm in height and it has a depth of 10.0cm. This light weighs 185G.
On the bottom you’ll see a battery compartment which holds 4x AAA batteries and you’ll also see a mode switch, this switch can change the light pattern. On the end of the arch there is a power input port which you’ll need to use if you’re going to use the supplied USB cable (Which has a length of 1M).
You’ll see a mirrored section too, this is where the light bounces off and creates the projection effect.
Testing out the light.
To use I decided to go with the mains powered option over battery use and you’ll need to use your own power plug. I recommend a good quality adapter and please choose one with CE and BS:EN markings, this is important as cheaper power adapters are not safe due to the separation internally of the Live and Neutral connections which easily arc and cause overheating, which in turn can cause a fire!
There are two lighting modes, Mode 1, and Mode 2. To select either one of these modes you’ll need to switch the toggle switch to your preferred option. Mode 1 turns the coloured LED lights on one at a time which creates a colour changing projection. Mode 2 is where the rainbow magic happens, if you select this all the LED’s light up and create a rainbow projection effect.
The LED lights are bright and do in fact project a rainbow image onto any hard surface area. But, one thing is really annoying with the lamp and it’s the timer! You only get 10 minutes of use before it decides that’s enough rainbow enjoyment and promptly switches off!
Aside from annoying, I don’t understand why this is required, the light hardly draws a big current and being LED the lamps won’t get hot either! Maybe one can only have so much rainbow before you’ve used your allowance of multi-coloured enjoyment.

This light is OK. I like the rainbow projection, but the timer is a big issue, maybe Amteker could design a user-controlled timer and let the consumer choose when the light should be turned off. The actual light is bright and does in fact project a rainbow coloured arch which I thought would be a marketing gimmick, but no, it does work! Overall though I quite like this light and recommend you purchase one of you’re after this kind of lighting effect, it works well!
