Acebeam T35 Flashlight

Can a tactical flashlight for around £60 outperform more expensive branded flashlights? Is it comfortable to handle? What about the lighting modes? Hopefully, today’s review for the Acebeam T35 Flashlight answers all these questions.

This week Acebeam celebrated their 10-year anniversary, to get to that business milestone is a huge achievement, and I’m sure you’ll join me in sending them positive vibes and hope the next 10 years are as successful.

This my 3rd review for Acebeam, I’ve previously reviewed the Acebeam Pokelit 2AA Flashlight and the Acebeam Pokelit AA Flashlight, although it has been a few years now since I last reviewed for them, so it was nice when Acebeam and myself recently reconnected. Acebeam suggested I review this Acebeam T35 Flashlight, a 5000K Neutral White LED, 1600 Lumens, 352M torch in Coyote brown, a military colour.

You get 6 different light modes, the supplied Acebeam 18650 battery has a generous 2600mAh rating, you can also use any CR123A (not supplied) if you wish. You get an on-body recharging USB- C port too, so you’re able to recharge without removing the battery from the flashlight body.

Without further ado, let’s get to the full review. I will be running a giveaway for this flashlight to celebrate Acebeam’s 10-year anniversary very soon on my X (Twitter), so keep an eye out for that too.

The Acebeam T35 Flashlight comes packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 15.3cm x 7.0cm x 3.5cm and weighs 202G.

Acebeam T35 Flashlight.

The Acebeam T35 Flashlight measures 135.00mm in length, 25.4mm in diameter and weighs 137G, this includes the 18650 battery. The supplied hand strap measures 155.0mm in length and loops onto the pocket clip. Quality is at the forefront of the design too, with the body being made from hard anodising aircraft grade aluminium alloy, you also get plenty of knurling, for added grip, ideal for this palm held flashlight.

The Acebeam T35 Flashlight has both a tail switch and a side switch. The tail switch acts as an on/off function, the side switch allows you to cycle through the 5 different light modes (more on these light modes further down), the side switch also acts as a LED battery level indicator too.

Acebeam has another version of the T35 flashlight, in black and having a 6500K Cool White LED, Max Output 1900Lumens 380Meters.

Battery and Charging.

As previously mentioned, Acebeam supplies a 18650 rechargeable battery. This battery has a 2600mAh rating, at 15A/3.6V/9.36Wh.

This, I managed to confirm to be true via the XTAR VC8S Charger.

There are two ways to recharge the battery, you can use the USB-C port (located on the side of the body) or remove the battery and use a separate battery charger. Charge time is all dependent on the method you use, and what charge equipment you use to recharge the battery.

But for the most part, a standard 5V DC power source to the USB-C port takes around 3 hours to fully charge, the side switch LED indicator lets you know when this has been completed, by changing indicator light from red to green.

Once charged, the battery will power the flashlight for upto 3.5 hours, this all dependent on the light modes you use, the 3.5 hour figure relates to medium light mode.

The higher the light mode, the quicker the battery will discharge. But it’s not just battery discharging that occurs. Heat from the LED area is certainly noticeable, place your hand in front of the light beam and you’ll start feeling the effect of burning.

But, impressively, when the flashlight is turned off, heat is very quickly dissipated. The heat fins on the body do a great job to cool the flashlight in a timely manner. The supplied pouch also helps to cool the flashlight too.

Light Modes.

You get 5 different lighting modes, and a strobe function. You can cycle through each one via the side switch. To activate the strobe function, press and hold the side switch.

Each mode has the below capabilities:

  • Ultra-Low: 3 Lumens, 400 hour runtime.
  • Low: 90 Lumens, 16 hour runtime, 98M distance, 2401 Candelas (cd).
  • Medium: 350 Lumens, 3.5 hour runtime, 160M distance, 6400 Candelas (cd).
  • High: 700 Lumens, 1.35 hour runtime, 230M distance, 13225 Candelas (cd).
  • Turbo: 1600~700 Lumens, 60s+1.30 hour runtime, 352M distance, 30976 Candelas (cd).
  • Strobe: 1600~700 Lumens, 3min+3hour runtime, 352M distance, 30976 Candelas (cd).

So, I tested these on a dark path, hopefully the below images help show the different lighting modes in action.

In the last turbo mode image you might see a figure in the distance, I ran off at that point, probably blinded them too.

Another cool feature is the Acebeam T35 Flashlight has a memory function, choose your preferred light mode via the side switch, then turn off the flashlight at the tail switch, then when you switch on again it’ll be on the last might mode you selected. Strobe mode isn’t saved though.

The Acebeam T35 Flashlight can be dropped 1.5M in height, and is also IP68 rated, so ideal as water resistant in fresh water to a maximum depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, and also protected from dust too. Acebeam supplies two additional rubber O-rings to ensure your flashlight remains both water and dust tight.

Conclusion.

I’m very impressed with the Acebeam T35 Flashlight, it’s very well made, and above all very comfortable to handle, there’s a nice balance in your hand. The knurled design adds grip and the tactile switches ensure you’re able to operate the flashlight very easily.

I like the dual switch control too, which means you’ll not accidentally turn on the flashlight, the cycle of modes on the side switch is a simple process too.

This flashlight will last a long time, especially being made from aluminium alloy, it won’t rust. The supplied 18650 battery is awesome too. Overall, I can’t fault the flashlight, a fantastic and high quality item.
