Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker

Today I’ll be reviewing the Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker, this is the first time I’ve reviewed anything for Tronsmart, I feel quite privileged to be invited if I’m honest, especially with the likes of Forbes, PC World, Tech Advisor and Expert Reviews all previously written about Tronsmart products.

Anyway, let’s get back to why we’re both here, the Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker, a Bluetooth V5.3 connection, a punchy 50W stereo sound, and even has the functionality of being a powerbank too.

You get an impressive 8000mAh power source (2x 4000mAh batteries) which provides over 15 hours of playtime upon a single full charge. You also get a cool light show too, with two lighting patterns to choose, or simply no lights, the choice is yours.

The speaker is also IPX6 rated too, so can withstand water ingress from heavy water sources, all without malfunction to the speaker.

So, is this speaker any good? Time to test it out!

Packaging and Contents.

The Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker comes packaged in a box which features images and printed specifications on, the box measures 34.0cm x 16.0cm x 20.0cm and weighs 2.7KG.

The user guide is very good, with clear illustrations to assist you how to best use the speaker.

The included USB-A/USB-C charging cable measures 70.0cm in length, the included AUX/AUX cable also measures 70.0cm in length. But you’re free to use your own cables if you need a longer cable, standard stuff.

The carry handle is chonky boy, and most impressively houses the Android compatible only NFC receiver, simply tap your Android device on the icon on the handle and quickly connect to Bluetooth without all the faff. But, if you’re on iOS or don’t have an NFC enabled device you can still connect using the traditional method of powering on the speaker, performing a Bluetooth search and connect to the speaker that way.

On the front area you’ll see 7 user buttons, these are in order from left to right:

  • Power On/Off: Powers on or off the speaker.
  • Minus Button (-): Volume Down/Previous Track.
  • Play Button (▷): Play/Pause Audio, Double Press activates voice assistant (Supports Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant), etc, Answers/Ends Phone Calls, Toggles Bluetooth On/Off, Resets Speaker.
  • Plus Button (+): Volume Up/Next Track.
  • SoundPulse EQ Button: Press once to activate EQ, press again to deactivate again.
  • Stereo Pairing Button: Use this button to pair an additional speaker for stereo play mode.
  • Light Button: Toggle between two light functions or lights off.

On the underside the Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker features 4x rubberised non-slip feet, and this work well, even on high glossy surfaces.

Charging.

Before all the action, you’ll need to give your Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker a charge, charging takes around 4 hours and is indicated by a pulsing battery level indicator, which becomes steady upon a full charge cycle. These lights also indicate remaining battery level whilst in use too, with 4 lights being 75%-100% charge, 3 lights 50%-75%, 2 lights 25%-50% and 1 light 25% or under of remaining battery life.

On the back you’ll see hidden away behind the rubber weatherproof bung 4 ports, the first from left to right is the USB outlet (for power bank use), next up is the AUX port, followed by the TF Mini Card slot and finally the USBC charging port.

I found inserting a USB-C cable a pain as the rubber bung gets in the way, but with a bit of frustrated fumbling I manged to get it in. But, good news, you’re able to both charge and play the speaker at the same time. You get a minimum play time of 15 hours if you turn off the LED lights, which is awesome. But obviously if you’re using the USB-A outlet to charge your phone it’ll drain the batteries quicker. The powerbank feature allows you to draw power from the speaker at 5V/1A.

Sound Quality.

So, all this is excellent so far, but the most important question you’re probably asking, what does the Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker sound like? Well, I can tell you, sound is very impressive, with nice punchy bass tone and crisp, clear vocals, volume can be both controlled using the speaker, or via your connected device. No distortion upon medium to full volume level either, and the V5.3 Bluetooth connection has an unbreakable connection of at least 15M, although being a rebel to the system I wanted to test i further and managed easily 20M before any signal loss.

The hands-free calling features works, although the microphone is average, but you won’t be using the speaker primarily to make or receive calls, so It’s not a big problem really.

I personally like the ring LED light show on the side too, add something extra and looks brilliant in a dark environment.

The speaker comes with Tronsmart’s patented SoundPulse algorithm, which basically counteracts sound defects to ensure your speaker produces the best sound output possible.

Conclusion.

I’m very impressed with the Tronsmart Bang Mini Party Speaker, it’s an impressive sounding speaker with the added benefit of being a powerbank too. The LED light show adds an extra element to the music experience. My only gripe is the fiddly USB-C charging port location, the bung gets in the way, but aside from that, I struggled to find faults with the speaker, it sounds awesome, and really isn’t that what’s important? A great sounding speaker!
