TOZO S7 Smartwatch

Fumbling for your phone mid-run or missing calls with full hands can be a pain. TOZO aims to solve this with their S7 Smartwatch, a feature-packed wearable that might just be the clever bit of kit you need. This TOZO S7 Smartwatch review will explore if it lives up to its promises.

For fitness enthusiasts, the S7 boasts over 100 sports modes, covering everything from standard jogs and cycling to yoga sessions.

But it’s more than just a fitness tracker.

The S7 features a vibrant touchscreen with dynamic backgrounds and sporty icons, offering a fresh look each time.

It also provides detailed sleep monitoring, analysing deep sleep, time to fall asleep, wake-up times, and periods of wakefulness to give you a clearer picture of your rest quality.

Under the hood, a 300mAh battery promises an impressive 7 to 10 days of use, reducing charger anxiety.

Everyday conveniences haven’t been forgotten either; you get weather forecasts with daily high and low temperatures, a stopwatch, and a countdown timer – handy for everything from workouts to kitchen tasks.

Once linked to the companion phone app, wrist-based music control (skip, pause, volume) becomes available.

The flick-of-the-wrist gesture to view the time works reliably, and with numerous watch faces to choose from, customising it to your style is easy.

So, is the TOZO S7 Smartwatch the versatile all-rounder you’re searching for?

Let’s take a closer look.

Packaging and Contents.

The TOZO S7 Smartwatch arrives in a cardboard box with a sleeve, showcasing product images and key specifications on the exterior.

The box dimensions are 16.0cm x 11.5cm x 2.0cm, with a total weight of 141g.

A white box features the TOZO logo and website (www.tozostore.com) (www.tozostore.com) at the top. Below, an image of the TOZO S7 Smartwatch displays a rectangular black watch face with rounded corners. The screen shows the time (8:26 AM, Saturday, April 6), heart rate (102 bpm), weather, steps (8,000), battery (100%), and calories burned (234). An astronaut graphic is in the background. The text "Stress 32 Relax" is also visible. At the bottom, "S7" is written in large black letters.

Inside the box you’ll find the following:

  • Charging Cable
  • Multilingual User Guide

The included charging cable measures approximately 60.0cm and connects via USB-A to a magnetic pogo-pin connector on the watch.

Before first use, the smartwatch requires charging.

This takes about an hour, providing up to 10 days of power on a full charge, though most users will likely experience around 7 days with typical usage.

The underside of the TOZO S7 Smartwatch is shown on a white surface, connected to its charging cable. The black rectangular watch has a black silicone strap with adjustment holes. The back features a circular sensor area with lights for heart rate monitoring, surrounded by text: "DESIGNED BY TOZO 5ATM WATERPROOF CE RoHS FCC." A magnetic charging connector with two gold pins is attached to the sensor area, with a black cable extending from it. The strap shows its smooth texture and buckle attachment points.

The TOZO S7 Smartwatch: Design and Build.

The TOZO S7 Smartwatch itself has a face measuring approximately 36.6mm x 43.2mm x 11.5mm and weighs a light 40g (approx.).

The strap clips on easily and can be removed via quick-release buttons, accommodating wrist sizes from 14.0cm to 23.0cm.

During testing, I encountered an issue where, on two occasions, bending my wrist in a specific way caused a strap release button to activate, making the watch detach and fall.

While I can’t confirm if this is widespread, it was my experience.

Additionally, the silicone strap material, while comfortable, tends to attract dust and debris, requiring frequent cleaning.

Another disappointment is the current lack of readily available replacement straps specifically for the S7 model.

Although TOZO offers replacements for other models, which hopefully bodes well for future S7 support, none were found at the time of this review.

Despite these strap-related drawbacks, it’s worth noting that the strap is very comfortable for all-day wear, a credit to TOZO‘s design in that respect.

The TOZO Health App: Functionality and Flaws.

The companion to the S7 is the TOZO Health app.

To put it mildly, its current state is quite basic, and unfortunately, rather buggy.

While it allows for fundamental tasks like changing the watch face (with over 100 designs and custom image uploads available), my experience was marred by several significant issues:

  • Communication Failures: The app frequently stopped communicating with the watch. Despite attempts to re-pair and factory reset the S7, the connection would not restore. The only remedy was to force-close the TOZO Health app via my Google Pixel 8’s settings menu to resolve the sync problem.
  • Slow Data Synchronisation: When successfully paired, syncing data from the watch (even just a day’s worth of activity and heart rate) could take up to five minutes.
  • Limited Third-Party Integration (Google Fit/Strava): Direct data sharing with Google Fit is not supported. While a toggle for Strava exists, and the intention seems to be to then sync Strava data to Google Fit, this functionality did not work. Despite registering a Strava account and granting permissions within the TOZO Health app, no data was shared. According to Strava, device information is needed. I contacted TOZO support via email regarding this but have not received a response after three weeks.

On a more positive note, some app-dependent functions do work as expected.

Once set up, you can make and take calls directly from the watch.

Notifications for messages, Alexa reminders, and Google Calendar alerts also come through.

Curiously, WhatsApp notifications failed to appear on the S7, even after being manually enabled in the supported apps list.

Day-to-Day Usage: The On-Watch Experience.

Having used the TOZO S7 Smartwatch for several weeks, the on-watch experience itself is surprisingly impressive.

Navigating menus is smooth, and selecting items feels precise.

The screen is clear and legible in various lighting conditions.

The DND (Do Not Disturb) mode is a welcome addition for sleep, helping preserve battery and preventing unwanted nocturnal awakenings.

A wrist wearing the TOZO S7 Smartwatch is shown against a white background. The black rectangular watch with rounded corners has a black silicone strap. The screen displays the time (02:21 PM, Friday), date (18), battery (0%), and steps (0), with icons for heart rate and other functions. The strap is secured around the wrist, showing its smooth texture and fit on a hairy forearm.

The “lift to wake” gesture is highly responsive; a simple flick of the wrist reliably displays the watch face.

This feature is customisable within the app, allowing adjustments to screen-on duration and brightness levels.

A neat, if simple, feature is the flashlight function.

This illuminates the screen with a bright white light, proving surprisingly useful for finding your way in the dark – particularly for those “night-time wee times”!

Conclusion: A Promising Smartwatch Let Down by its Software?

The TOZO S7 Smartwatch presents a curious case.

On the wrist, it often feels like a more premium device than its price point might suggest.

The screen is bright and responsive, battery life is commendable, and it’s packed with features including over 100 sports modes, on-wrist call handling, and effective sleep tracking.

The device itself is comfortable for prolonged wear.

However, the overall experience is significantly hampered by the TOZO Health app, which, in its current state, is basic and plagued by bugs ranging from connectivity issues to painfully slow syncing and non-functional third-party integrations like Strava and Google Fit.

The lack of WhatsApp notifications is also a notable omission for many.

Furthermore, concerns about the strap’s tendency to unexpectedly detach and the current unavailability of official replacement straps are definite drawbacks, compounded by a lack of response from TOZO customer support regarding app issues.

TOZO S7 Smartwatch Review: The Final Verdict.

Ultimately, the TOZO S7 hardware shows a lot of promise.

If TOZO can dedicate serious resources to overhauling the app and address the strap concerns, the S7 could be a strong contender in the budget smartwatch market.

As it stands, potential buyers need to weigh the impressive on-watch performance and features against a frustrating and unreliable app experience.

It’s a device with potential, but one that comes with significant caveats.
