A My Helpful Hints exclusive today, I’ll be writing a review for the SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbuds. I’ve been testing these out for a couple of weeks, they’re not available just yet to the general public. A release date of 15th November 2023 has been set.
This clear design is something different to the SoundPEATS range. They’re also lightweight, feature an advanced Bluetooth 5.3 technology chipset, a 7 hour audio playtime on each full earbud charge, and clear, concise phone calls with the built-in Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) dual-microphone.
The battery case provides around 40+ hours of charge for the earbuds, you can charge your earbuds around 6 times before the battery case requires a charge itself. They also work on the SoundPEATS app too.
But what are they like? Comfortable? Time to test them out!
Packaging and Contents.
The SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbuds come packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 10.4cm x 10.4cm x 4.0cm and weighs 148G.
Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Earbuds (in case), 1x Charging Case, 2x Additional Ear-Tips, 1x USB-C/USB-A Charging Cable (which measures 20.0cm in length) and 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide.
As mentioned, the supplied charging cable is a little on the short side, but you’re free to utilise any USB-C charging cable, so long as you supply a 5V DC power source, your earbud charging case will charge.
Charging takes around 2 hours to fully charge the charging case. The earbuds take around 1.5 hours to charge. A handy charging indicator light is visible on the charging case.
Simply press the button to the left of the USB-C charging port, a solid green light indicates a 100%-50% battery level, a yellow light means 49%-10% remaining, and red indicates a battery level of under 10%.
Whilst in charge mode the same light indicates the following: <10%, a slow flashing red light is present, 11%-49% a yellow light, 50-99% this light shows a slow flashing green, a solid green light indicates a full 100% charge.
SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbuds.
Each SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbud measures 32.7mm x 16.9mm and weighs just 4.2G. The battery case measures 56.8mm x 50.1mm x 30.0mm and weighs 45G (includes both earbuds). I really like the clear/white colour combination, looks clean and very aesthetically pleasing on the eye. SoundPEATS have other colour options available too, including black and blue.
Both earbuds magnetically attract to the case, perfectly aligning with the charging contact pins. I like this design, some models feature deep well types placement that becomes difficult to clean, this design by SoundPEATS allows for easy cleaning with a slightly damp cloth.
Each earbud has a clear left/right mark to indicate correctly ear placement, although they’re obviously shaped in any case, but I guess no harm in marking them too. The ear-tips feature a blue band marker, this band is thicker than standard silicone ear-tip, which means it fits snuggly onto each earbud, without coming away with prolonged insertion/removal.
Using the SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbuds.
Connection via the Bluetooth V5.3 JL6973D8 chipset is easy. Simply open the case, remove the earbuds, and perform a Bluetooth search and connect. That’s it! They’ll automatically connect each and every time automatically. The advertised Bluetooth range is 10M, although I got a 20M distance in an open environment, plus an uninterrupted signal inside my two-storey home, signal worked through walls and floors without any loss.
You can also utilise the SoundPEATS app, this app is available free of charge to both Android and iOS users. I wrote more about the SoundPEATS app on a previous review, so I won’t repeat myself, and with the magic of internal linking, you’ll see this section by clicking or tapping here!
You also get multifunctional touch controls too. There’s a touch-sensitive control area on the largest facing part. You’re able to control volume, track selection and more. I’ll do the full functions below:
- Play/Pause: Double tap either earbud.
- Volume Down: Single tap the left earbud.
- Volume Up: Single tap the right earbud.
- Skip Track: Log press the right earbud.
- Previous Tracks: Long press the left earbud.
- Answer/End Call: Double tap either earbud.
- Reject Phone Call: Long press either earbud for 1.5s.
- Switch Between Two Active Calls: Long press either earbud for 1.5s.
- Activate Voice Assistant: Triple tap the right earbud.
- Enter Game Mode: Triple tap the left earbud.
The touch sensitivity works well, very precise. SoundPEATS are very good at producing audio with accurate touch sensitive user controls.
Game Mode allows you to seamlessly watch video and lips will be in sync with the words, with low 90ms latency. Ideal for both watching video and playing online games. You can also activate Game Mode via the app too, simply slide the toggle bar for Game Mode.
Sound Quality.
I’ve been reviewing SoundPEATS for a while now, actually it’s been 6 years. Over the years I have been a huge fan of the audio quality of SoundPEATS products, but recently they’ve slipped in audio quality in my opinion. Which is a huge shame, as this was one of the best features of any SoundPEATS product. But I can report the SoundPEATS Clear Wireless Earbuds are back to the high-standard I’ve come to expect from SoundPEATS. They sound fantastic. Bass and vocals are clear, crisp and a complete enjoyable experience. I’m so happy to see SoundPEATS developed these earbuds to be better audio quality.
I also found them extremely comfortable too. Even during prolonged use, no ear ache, nothing.
The handsfree calling feature with the twin built-in ENC microphones work well too, no background noise to distract your caller, overall a pleasant experience.
