Today I’ll be writing about the Sleepy Panda Earplugs. These ultra-soft foam earplugs have a noise reduction of 38DB SNR (Single Number Rating), one of the highest levels of hearing protection available. They’re ideal for sleeping, studying, work related environments, and for outdoor work such as mowing the garden for example.
The Sleepy Panda Earplugs are made from non-toxic, BPA free, hypoallergenic foam. They’re also slow expanding, so they slowly expand to fill the gaps within your inner ear canal and block out sound. This process takes around 20-60 seconds to fully rebound.
You get 60 pairs, but you can reuse them, this is dependent upon your own circumstances and preferences. Although, Sleepy Panda sell this product as a disposable earplug, but if they’re not dirty, you may reuse them again. You even get a small carry tin so you’re able to always carry around a pair with you.
So, are they any good? Time to test them out!
Packaging and Contents.
The Sleepy Panda Earplugs come packaged in a tubular cardboard tube, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The tube measures 14.5cm x 8.0cm and weighs 140G.
Inside the tube you’ll receive the following items: 60x Foam Earplugs, 1x Carry Tin, 1x English User Guide.
Sleepy Panda Earplugs.
The Sleepy Panda Earplugs are black in colour, each one measuring 23.7mm in length, 9.9mm at the tip, and 12.0mm at the end, each one weighs approximately 0.5G each.
The supplied carry tin measures 37.9mm x 17.4mm and weighs (when empty) 4.2G. It features a screw fastening design and is black in colour with a cute Panda sleeping on a fluffy cloud. There’s enough room inside the carry tin to fit one pair of earplugs.
How to Use.
The Sleepy Panda Earplugs are easy to use, to use:
- Wash hands, this ensures you don’t transfer unwanted dirt/debris from your hands into your ears.
- Roll an earplug between your thumb and index finger to form a worm like shape.
- Pull your ear back and upward with your free hand.
- Insert the earplug into your ear, don’t use too much force.
- The earplug will slowly expand back into its original form.
There should be just enough of the earplug available for you to grab and remove. Sleepy Panda recommend they’re used by persons 8 years or older.
I found the Sleepy Panda Earplugs to be very comfortable, noise was notably reduced, although you’re still able to hear human voices and other sounds, they’re certainly reduced. These earplugs reduce sound by 38dB, to give that some context it’s the same noise environment as a library, this may not sound overly brilliant, but reducing any hearing by nearly 40dB is certainly noticeable, most people notice a difference in sound in 3dB increments.
Will they stop you hearing the person next to you snoring? They’ll certainly reduce the sound; our bodies absorb sound. This is known as Absorption Factor. Our bodies are little sound sponges.
Also wearing earplugs or earphones increases bone conduction. This phenomenon is when sound is picked up via vibration and transported through your body via your skeletal structure, you’ll usually hear a dull, thudding sound when moving about for example. The more you block out sound, the more this increases.

Conclusion.
I really like the Sleepy Panda Earplugs. They’re soft and slowly expand to fill the inner ear canal. They’re also very comfortable to wear, you don’t feel any pressure and the sit perfectly without shifting position. The carry tin is also a nice touch, mean you can take a pair with you wherever you go for instant relaxation and protection.
Overall, I highly recommend them.
