Can a blanket keep you cool in the summer? What about keeping you warm in the winter? Is this some kind of magic? Welcome everyone to the Avoalre Cooling Blanket, the double sided body temperature controlled cover.
I was sent this blanket from Avoalre to review, and the last few days the UK has experienced some warmth, which has been a welcome relief from the constant rain we have been experiencing. Talking about the weather, jeez, I’m so British.
So, the blanket. It’s a double sided blanket, I will go on further in the review to explain in more detail, but one side keeps you cool, the other side keeps you warm.
How? Arc-Chill, I have previously reviewed a t-shirt which featured this Japanese fabric, so I know it works, but as a blanket? Does it work? You’ll have to read on and find out.
Packaging and Contents.
The Avoalre Cooling Blanket comes packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 30.0cm x 13.0cm x 13.0cm and weighs 1050G.
Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Blanket (neatly wrapped)
Avoalre Cooling Blanket.
The Avoalre Cooling Blanket comes in two sizes, a double sized (150.0cm x 200.0cm) and a queen size blanket (200.0cm x 220.0cm). Avoalre sent me the double sized blanket in Grey. You can choose from blue, grey and purple too, I’ll link the colour options below:
Each blanket is made from mixed materials, with the warm fluffy side made from 100% bamboo fibres, the cooling side is made from a mixture of nylon at 75% and Polyester at 25%. You’re able to machine wash at 30°C, but do not tumble dry and hang out to dry in a shaded environment.
Although each blanket comes in either double or queen size, they’re not suitable for sharing on a bed. I found the double size was ideal for me, and me alone, so if you share a bed, you’d probably be best to purchase two separate double sized blankets.
How does it all work?
Magic. OK there’s more to it all then magic, it’s all due to a special textile. The textile in question is from Arc-Chill, which comes from a Japanese research centre, which it’s then tested by another Japanese organisation named BOKEN. Arc-Chill is a revolutionary material, made from nylon/polyester which incorporates jade nano-particles, this material helps remove humidity from your skin, it can absorb body heat, reducing body heat anywhere from 2°C to 5°C, or 3.6°F to 9°F for those that are either American, or still using old school money!
The Avoalre Cooling Blanket has a special Q-max 0.4 rating. But, what exactly is a Q-max rating? Think of Q-max as a material’s built-in air conditioner rating. It reflects the maximum rate at which the material can move heat away from your body. The higher the Q-max, the faster it can whisk away that warm feeling, making the material feel cooler to the touch. This value relates to the material’s heat transfer coefficient, a fancy way of saying how good it is at conducting heat.
So, to compare the Arc-Chill 0.4 score against silk and cotton, both well-known textiles, silk has a Q-max rating of 0.19, cotton comes with a 0.11 rating, so Arc-Chill is clearly the winner for keeping you cool.
Last night the temperature in my bedroom was 23°C, so bordering on not needing a cover at all, but I still like to use a cover of some sort whilst sleeping. And, with the Avoalre Cooling Blanket I was kept cool all night, and still enjoyed maximum comfort too.
If you need a cover to sleep, even in the height of summer, then this blanket is ideal for you.

Conclusion.
I’m really impressed with the Avoalre Cooling Blanket. It actually works, I was prepared to say it’s all a marketing scam, but can 100% confirm the blanket does in fact keep you cool, it’s also very comfortable to use too. I will recommend this blanket if you wish to remain cool whilst sleeping, but also require a cover of some sorts.
A fantastic product, fully recommended.
