Today I’ll be writing a review for the SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds. If you’ve been on my site before you’d know I have reviewed a ton of audio for SoundPEATS, I love the brand. Today’s offering are these pair of 12mm biodynamic driver earbuds.
The SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds have approved Hi-Res certification and authorisation, reaching the standard of high-quality audio, frequency response range of 20Hz-40kHz, immerse listeners HiFi music experiences with lossless sound quality.
They’re equipped with 24bit/96kHz LDAC decoding, a near lossless sound quality. You get both Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) along with Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) for total sound immersion and excellent call quality.
So are these earbuds any good? Time to test them out!
Packaging and Contents.
The SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds come packaged in a cardboard box, which shows product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 10.2cm x 9.2cm x 4.1cm and weighs 155G.
Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Battery Case, 1x Pair of Earbuds (inside battery case), 2x Additional Ear Tips, 1x Charging Cable, 1x Multi-Lingual User Guide.
The supplied USB-A/USB-C cable measures 25.0cm in length, you can use the supplied cable, or if you prefer you may use any generic USB-C cable to charge the battery case. Charging takes approximately 1.5 hours; this includes both the battery case and earbuds. You get a handy charging indicator light too. A slow pulsing red light indicates a battery level below 20%, yellow pulsing light means a 20%-69% level, a pulsing green light indicates 70%-99% and a solid green light means you’re charged 100%.
You can also press the button on the side of the case for a quick battery remaining level. A green light indicates a battery case level of 100%-50%, yellow means 49%-10%, and a red light indicates a level below 10%.
The battery case measures 69.0mm x 44.7mm x 30.7mm. You get 9 hours of audio from the earbuds, and a total playtime of around 33 hours via the charging case.
SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds.
The SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds feature a cool two-tone colour scheme of Black and Champagne Gold, each earbud measures 22.2mm x 19.0mm x 23.2mm and weighs 7.3G. They’re a little on the heavy side, you do notice you’re wearing them, but they’re not uncomfortable with prolonged use.
You can easily change the silicone ear-tips supplied by SoundPEATS, this is great for achieving a better fit, and enhancing sound isolation too.
You get touch-sensitive user controls on each earbud too. These do the following:
- Play/Pause: Double tap on either earbud.
- Volume Decrease: Single tap the left earbud.
- Volume Increase: Single tape the right earbud.
- Mode Switch: Press and hold on the left earbud for 1.5 seconds to switch between Noise Reduction Mode, Transparent Mode and Normal Mode.
- Answer/End Call: Double tap either earbud.
- Reject a Call: Press and hold either earbud for 1.5 seconds.
- Switch Between Two Active Calls: Press and hold either earbud for 1.5 seconds.
- Activate Voice Assistant: Triple tap the right earbud.
You’ll be pleased to know the SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds automatically connect to your device when open the charging case and shut off when placed within the case and close the lid.
You can also pair your SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds via the SoundPEATS app, although I’m not a big fan of this app personally, I wrote more about my experiences on my review for the SoundPEATS Air4 Lite Earbuds.
Sound Quality.
The sound quality of the SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds are OK. Nothing special to be honest, they’re just OK. Certainly not the worst sounding earbuds on the market, but again not the best either. I would say easy middle of the road audio quality. Sound isolation is quite poor, leakage is noticeable for those that are around you, the Active Noise Cancellation helps reduce some unwanted background noise, although not the best ANC earbuds I’ve ever used, this is more than likely a design flaw with the 7.3G weight, being that heavy ultimately means they slip slightly removing any chance of a tight audio seal to protect you from unwanted background noises.
Bass tones are present although for me personally I prefer more bass, which means I can adjust via the SoundPEATS app using the equaliser graph to suit my own preferential needs. You get a 10M Bluetooth range via the V5.3 WQ7033AR chipset, I couldn’t break the connection. The in-built microphone works well for phone calls too, the caller can clearly hear your voice.

Conclusion.
I quite like the SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds, they’re OK. If you’re after a decent pair of wireless earbuds, nothing too expensive and want to enjoy your audio on the go with a long battery, then they’re ideal. Improvements for me would make them slightly lighter, that would enhance them to the next level for me. There’s no doubting that the SoundPEATS Opera05 Earbuds look the part, they’re beautiful looking, I hope SoundPEATS continue the two-tone colour scheme on future models, adding something special to the aesthetic pleasure of audio gear.
