Today I’ll be writing a review for the Yonars Smart Hula Hoop. Yes, a hula hoop. I’ve reviewed lots of niche products on the website, so I guess why not a hula hoop 🤷♂️
Anyway, the hula hoop I have has removable links, so it doesn’t matter if you’re a child or adult, it’ll fit you. You get a weighted gravity ball which glides around the hoop.
According to Yonars, a quick 30-minute use equates to 30-minutes of jogging or swimming.
But, is this hula hoop any good? Time to test it out!
Packaging and Contents.
The Yonars Smart Hula Hoop comes packaged in an orange cardboard box. The box measures 24.0cm x 23.5cm x 8.0cm and weighs 793G.
Yes, the translation is piss poor. The first sentence of “Every day 30 today, fromnow on, live out self-confidence! Hula hoop that won’t fall” means what exactly? Anyway…
Inside the box you’ll find the following: 1x Gravity Weighted Ball, 26x Sections, 1x Resistance Band, 1x Tape Measure, 1x English (sort of) User Guide.
The supplied tape measure is both a metric/imperial tape measure. It measures 1M/40″.
Yonars Smart Hula Hoop.
The Yonars Smart Hula Hoop is purple in colour and made entirely from plastic materials. Each link measures 4.5cm. You can add/remove a section by pressing in the tabs and aligning with the holes of the next link. You can use the hula hoop upto a 106cm/42″ waist, if you need a longer hula hoop, simply purchase two and keep adding the links. The hula hoop does need to be quite tight against your waist as to prevent it from moving about.
The weighted gravity ball weighs 200G and has a 32.0cm rope. You get 4 bearings that glide around the inner sections of the links. Is it quiet? no, it has an annoying clicky noise, but I guess that’s the best you can get with such a design, the bearings are going to be making noise whilst moving.
I thought Yonars supplied a resistance band too. But from reading the user guide, this band is supposed to be used to prevent the gravity ball from hitting objects, and children. Although the band doesn’t fit, unless you wrap it like 5 times, then it looks tacky and certainly an afterthought. A proper sized band would’ve been much better.
Also, don’t what whatever you do drop your hands whilst using the hula hoop. Yes, I did, and it whacked my knuckles and left me bruised and sore.

Conclusion.
The Yonars Smart Hula Hoop isn’t for me I’m afraid. Yes, it works, you get a workout, but the fear of whacking my knuckles again has put me off. I’m sure if you don’t drop your hands downward whilst in use the hula hoop will be useful to you. I can certainly see how the idea can help with exercise.
