I found the physical button provided intuitive and reliable control over functions, although it does take some practice to correctly locate each button behind your earlobe.

This means if you place either earbud into the charging case and wait 10 seconds, they will automatically swap left/right channels.
When you remove them, they are supposed to be automatically set.
However, for some reason, mine were the opposite of what the charging case indicated – a little odd.
So, I had to remember the left earbud in the case would function as the right in my ear.
