Nank Runner Diver2 Pro.
The Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphone measures approximately 31.0cm and weighs 31G.
Impressively, both ends of the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro are full adjustable between 20°-55°, this enables you to either use them in the open-ear mode (55° position) or noise cancelling mode (20° position), simply tilt and bend into your preferred mode and position.
The outer material is both comfortable and lightweight, made from silicone which also adds some friction whilst in use.
The Nank Runner Diver2 Pro can be used in either Bluetooth or MP3 Mode (more on this later). To utilise the Bluetooth you can power the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones on and perform a Bluetooth search, or, and this is the impressive thing about the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro, you can connect via the in-built NFC connection.
Simply tap your iOS or Android device towards the right hand section (where the user controls are located) and your device will try and connect to the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones.
How Do They Work?
So how exactly do the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones work? The answer to that is bone conduction, but what exactly is bone conduction? Well, here goes…
Bone conduction headphones are a new type of headphone that work differently from traditional ones. Instead of sending sound through your ears, they send it through your cheekbones. This means you can still hear your surroundings while listening to music.
Sound waves are converted into vibrations by the headphones’ transducers. These vibrations travel through your cheekbones to your inner ear. The inner ear then turns these vibrations into sound.
This open-ear design allows you to remain aware of your surroundings while listening to music, making them ideal for activities like cycling, running, or working out.
Bone conduction headphones are also generally more comfortable than regular headphones because they don’t put pressure on your ear canals.
This can be especially beneficial for those who experience discomfort or irritation from traditional in-ear or over-ear headphones.
Additionally, bone conduction headphones can be safer in certain situations, such as when you need to be aware of your environment, like while cycling or running.
By allowing you to hear your surroundings while listening to music, bone conduction headphones can help you stay safe and avoid potential hazards.
However, it’s important to note that bone conduction headphones may not provide the same level of sound quality as traditional headphones, especially for bass frequencies.
They may also not offer as much noise isolation as traditional headphones, which can be a drawback in noisy environments.
So to summarise. If you prioritise comfort, awareness of your surroundings, and a unique listening experience, bone conduction headphones may be the ideal option. However, if you require exceptional sound quality and maximum noise isolation, traditional headphones may be a better fit.
On-Ear User Control.
The Nank Runner Diver2 Pro are come with on-ear user controls, there’s quite a bit to cover here, so I’ll try and break it down below in bullet points. You get three buttons (multi-function, plus and minus), these control the following.
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the multi-function button for 3 seconds.
- Voice Assistant: Press and hold the multi-function button for 5 seconds.
- Play/Pause Audio: Single click the multi-function button.
- Volume Increase: Single click the plus button.
- Volume Decrease: Single click the minus button.
- Skip Track: Press and hold the plus button for seconds.
- Previous Track: Press and hold the minus button.
- Answer/End Phone Call: Single click the multi-function button.
- Reject Incoming Call: Double click the multi-function button.
- Bluetooth/MP3 Mode: Tripe click the multi-function button.
- Random Play Function: Click the multi-function button four times.
The positioning of the user control buttons are in a position which allows for accurate and precise actions, I was quite impressed with the tactile feel of them too, meaning you can easily distinguish between each of the three buttons.
MP3 Mode and Other Features.
The Nank Runner Diver2 Pro also can switched to the MP3 feature mode. You get an impressive 32GB of in-built memory. To download you need to use the magnetic cable and hook up to your PC to transfer files.
To switch to the MP3 Mode, click the multi-function button three times in succession.
Why the MP3 Mode? This is actually a smart feature, especially as the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones are IP69 rated and can be used in a swimming pool, so you’ll be outside of the Bluetooth range of your device, but having a separate function to listen to your music whilst in the swimming pool is a huge plus.
You can also download your Spotify tracks directly too, Nank have a guide to make it easy.
The supplied silicone earplugs also ensure water cannot ingress into your inner ear canal.
With a generous 32GB of memory you get around 8000 audio files, which is massive.
I will touch back on the IP69 rating again for a second, what this essentially means is you can use the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones in seawater, at a water pressure of 10M for an incredible 5 hours.
Incredible!
Nank also supply a series of sound quality enhancers, simply slip these into your outer ear area to enjoy an enhanced audio experience.
Sound Quality and Use.
Hand up I didn’t expect much from the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones, usually bone conduction audio is a little hit and miss, audio is generally poor. But, and surprisingly for me to say, the Nank Runner Diver2 Pro headphones sound good, obviously not IEM good, but certainly up there with other overhead headphone type audio products.
Being able to customise the angle of the ends also helps to ensure you get the best audio for the environment you’re in.
I found the audio to be clear, crisp and bass was punchy too, even without using the sound enhancers too.
Honestly, these are amazing for outdoor use.
Sound cancellation is superb, and without any suprise the isolation is what you’d expect, sound leakage, but please remember these are bone conduction headphones, so to get a high noise cancellation feature is amazing.
They sit perfectly well on the outer ear, despite my best efforts, I wasn’t able to shake them off my head.
Comfort wise, they’re incredibly comfortable, no fatigue at all and my outer ears didn’t hurt at all, another plus!
The Bluetooth V5.4 signal is strong and you get around 20M more transmission distance too. Simply amazing!
The in-built microphone allows you to take phonecalls, although this isn’t the best feature for me, the callers voice vibrates too much and tickles your cheek bones, the microphone also needs to be tiled in the open-ear mode, otherwise the caller can’t hear you clearly.
But, for what they’re designed for, for example to take a quick call whilst out, they work, but not ideal for longer phone calls.
