Effective Ways to Fix An SEO Campaign. SEO success. Myth or attainable?
It’s not a myth but a crucial necessity to implement a successful SEO strategy.
The reality is that you might not fully understand what needs to be done to climb the rankings and satisfy the algorithm gods.
Rest assured, with the proper knowledge and strategy, you can place your website at the top of the rankings.
While it might seem like you’re selling your soul to the devil, the reality is that you need SEO more than SEO needs you.
And what if, after all, your campaign is rather lacklustre, to say the least, and you’re simply watching your visibility disappear in the rearview mirror?
It’s time to stop what you’re doing and fix an SEO campaign that is wildly out of control.
Let’s take a look at some of the different ways that you can fix an SEO campaign, avoid mistakes, and improve your SEO to get the results that you really need.
Get Real
Let’s be honest: Google is a lot more intelligent than you give it credit for.
For years and years, it has been developing in areas such as machine learning, data, and analytics that have gone into defining the algorithm, and underestimating its capabilities is not going to end well for you.
You need to be real in your content and add real-world examples and scenarios based on first-hand feedback to all of your content.
If you’ve not heard of the EAT acronym, then it’s time to learn.
Google added an extra E to its EAT (NOW EEAT) acronym in 2022.
The E stands for experience, and it directs content creators to demonstrate that their content was produced with some degree of experience, for example, actual use of a product, actual having visited a place, or communicating what a person experienced.
This means that instead of using phrases like “accounting software to help boost accuracy,” you want to inject humanity into that sentence.
For example, I’ve used this accounting software for six months now, and not only have I been able to track my income easily, but I have also spent less time chasing unpaid invoices and understand cash flow throughout my business better.
If you apply this technique, along with other tips implemented by SEO experts and recommended by the algorithm gods of Google, if you prefer, you can build more trust with readers and add credibility throughout the website.

It can be a good idea to think about what would make you trust a website.
Which of these statements are you personally more likely to trust?
This SEO tool improved my rankings for six months.
Or
As a small business, when I started using this SEO tool, traffic related to my keywords increased by 50% within the three months I used it.
The more credible your statements and the information on your website is, the more likely people are to find them valuable.
Focus on AI SEO
We’ve all seen the AI-generated results that appear at the top of the search engine when you’re looking for anything.
This is what we refer to as ‘AI SEO,’ a strategy that leverages AI-generated content to boost your website’s visibility.
AI SEO involves creating relevant, high-quality content optimised for AI algorithms to improve its chances of appearing in AI-generated search results.
When you search for anything in Google, at the top or even partway down the results, you’ll get a little AI overview, which is a collection of information from various sources relating to your search term.
When you are a small business, improving your SEO and focusing on AI SEO can help boost your content and push it to the top of the search engines.
You can do this by building the brand’s authority.
AI is a model that relies heavily on mentions for its results, and these mentions need to be from reputable websites and authoritative sites that are credible.
It’s the culmination of creating topical, high-quality content, adding listicles to your website, and other additional SEO tactics that boost the relevancy of your website and make it easier for AI to read.
This article on AI SEO from fatjoe explores how to get your content to appear both in the AI section on Google and chatbots like ChatGPT.
You Need Linkable Assets
What exactly are linkable assets?
In simpler terms, linkable assets are content pieces that are so valuable and informative that people feel compelled to reference and link to them.
This could be in the form of comprehensive guides on relevant topics, in-depth case studies, or unique data analysis that provides insights not easily found elsewhere.
Linkable assets can also be thought of as link bait.
And it is content is designed to get backlinks.
This means including studies and data, again going back to listables that can help you as wells providing resources and how-to guides.
Another great option is to create free tools.
Free tools are, as they sound, tools on your website that people can come and use for free.
For example, if someone is looking for a calorie calculator to help them work out how many calories they need to eat to lose weight and you are a website that sells services to help people lose weight, for example, meal plans, personal training, etc., having a free calorie calculator that is basic and people can use can help direct them to your website and also create resource that others in the niche can link back to direct their readers too.
You are essentially just making your articles as attractive as possible to others to gain great backlinks.
Bottom Not Top
As suggestive as that sounds when put into context in relation to keywords, the idea is that Google is prioritizing bottom-of-the-funnel keywords over top-of-funnel keywords.
If you have based your SEO strategy around keywords such as what is, for example, then it’s highly likely you’ve experienced a drop in traffic most people have.
The reason for this is that more users are searching for keywords that help them solve a problem immediately.
Instead of focusing on keywords that bring people to the top of your funnel, you need to send them straight to the bottom.
It’s important to note that bottom-funnel keywords typically bring in less overall traffic; however, they do have a higher chance of converting than top-of-the-funnel keywords.
But what type of bottom-funnel or BoFu keywords should you be targeting?
- buy (product/service)
- purchase (product/service)
- (product closed) reviews
Using these terms instead of what this product is can yield more results, especially in today’s business landscape.
Speed It Up
How slow can you go?
In relation to your website, slower is absolutely not better.
In fact, slow websites equate to a faster trajectory to the bottom of the search engines.
It’s no secret, and it’s nothing new, that a slow-loading website will directly impact your Google rankings.
This is something that’s been common knowledge for many years.
However, that doesn’t mean all website owners are paying attention to how fast their website is, especially for mobile loading.
A fast-loading website is a prerequisite for good ranking and a good user experience.
Your website needs to load fully within three seconds—three seconds is the maximum, not the aim.
The faster it loads, the better your website will fare.
Luckily, you can use Google’s Page Speed Insights to see just how fast your site loads and get a few hints and tips on where you might be failing and what you need to change to boost the site speed.
A few easy tips are:
- Compressing images
- Move to a new web host
- Delete unnecessary scripts
- Reduce file size
Update Existing Content
Now, just because Google has changed how it ranks content and what it pushes to the top of the search engines doesn’t mean that the content on your website is useless or invaluable—far from it.
It is a really good foundation to work on, and it can be an effective way to rank higher and drive more traffic.
Go back through all of your existing content and make an action plan to update it.
This takes a heck of a lot less effort than creating entirely new content.
Look at what is still relevant, look at what Google is asking for, and find ways to implement new SEO tactics, such as bottom-of-the-funnel keywords and targeted approaches, into the content that you already have.
The theory is that Google is already ranking your content, and by making relevant, accurate, and valuable updates to the post, you can boost the rankings without impacting the results that you’re already seeing.
Final Thoughts
SEO is a beast.
There’s no denying that there is a lot that goes into an effective SEO campaign that brings tangible results and benefits businesses.
With things constantly changing and evolving, you need to be on the pulse of SEO to be sure that you’re not making any massive SEO mistakes so that all of the work and effort you are putting in is beneficial, not wasted.
