Pretty Savage

Today I’ll be writing about Pretty Savage and more specifically, shampoo bars. Pretty Savage is a small business ran by Adele Savage since 2018 which sells a variety of beauty/cosmetic related consumables such as soap, bath soaks, wax melts, and of course shampoo bars.

These days shampoo bars are advertised everywhere, they’re environmentally friendly, and best of all, great for your hair. But there’s a hidden underground scene of unlicensed products hitting people’s social media timelines. Unscrupulous sellers are selling body soap and marketing it as shampoo. Body soap has the wrong PH level for hair. Pretty Savage is fully compliant and has products assessed to ensure user safety. Adele will also provide documentation to prove compliance if requested, everything is open and there’s no hidden agenda.

I usually have a number one shaved head as hair makes me hot, but I grew some hair for today’s review (only a little bit though), but I have a house full of hairy headed ladies. So, my youngest daughter who is 11 decided to step up (with hair down to her hips) and help me. She has sensitive skin, so this would be the ultimate test.

I have two shampoo bars, one is named Let Hair Be Savage, and the other Hair Force Savage, more on each of these later.

So, are these shampoo bars any good? Time to test them out!

Packaging and Contents.

Pretty Savage products come in environmentally and recyclable packaging. I need to be honest here, the packaging and branding is absolutely on point, Pretty Savage have some of the best branding that I’ve ever seen. It’s cool, modern and light-hearted, all in keeping with the personality of Adele. You even get a joke supplied with each order too, it’s a cheesy one, but hey, it’s unique.

I love the ‘Place Nose Here’ section too, very inventive and unique. Also, I love a pun or three, so to see ‘Hair Trade Ingredients’ was enough for me to chuckle.

Each order also comes with a small sample of soap, a nice touch from this small business.

I’ll break up the two shampoo bars into their own section below. Each shampoo bar has a net weight of 75G.

Hair Force Savage.

A fruity scented bar with a light green coloured tone, this bar is suitable for most hair types. The ingredients are as follows: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Dehydroacetic acid, Benzyl alcohol, Aqua, Parfum, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, CI 77891, CI 77288, and Tin Oxide.

Let Hair Be Savage.

Has a more masculine scent and again is suitable for most hair types. The ingredients are as follows: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Dehydroacetic acid, Benzyl alcohol, Aqua, Parfum, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, CI 77891, CI 77491, and Tin Oxide.

Pretty Savage.

My overall user experience of using both shampoo bars was a very pleasant one. I love the fact that I’m not contributing to plastic waste and my hair feels soft, clean and smells nice. My daughter loves them too, especially the Hair Force Savage one, it’s her favourite one. Her hair looked healthy and shiny from the first wash too.

I love the colours, scents and shapes of each bar too, the PS logo stamp is also a nice touch. Small details that don’t go unnoticed and adds to whole user experience of Pretty Savage products.

Before using any new product it’s worth allergy testing on yourself, you can wet the shampoo bar and rub some onto your body skin, you can use shampoo bars on your body, but can’t use body soap for your hair. Both myself and my daughter had no allergy issues for both bars and haven’t over the few weeks we’ve been using them. From what I can see they’ll also last for a few months too, the net weight is 75G and I’ve weighed that 0.5G is used up on each use, so in theory each bar could last 150 washes.

Conclusion.

I love the Pretty Savage shampoo bars. They smell fragrant and work well, even on my daughter’s hip-length hair, she’s certainly happy with her shiny hair too.

The environmentally friendly aspect of using shampoo bars most appeal to me, nothing worse than buying a product for it to be supplied in plastic packaging, this way of washing your hair ensures no plastic packaging.

Each shampoo bar lathers up well and rinses out very easily too. Highly recommended.
