Today I’ll be reviewing the Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse. I’ve reviewed many products over the last 3 years for Oliphant (and their sister companies) on this website. I love gadgets, so when Oliphant get in touch and send me some samples to review, I can’t help but get excited.

So, last week I got a delivery, and it’s a full box of cool looking products to review. I’ll be starting with this birdhouse, but you’ll want to check back over the coming weeks to see what else was sent to me.

This Home Tweet Home Birdhouse is very striking looking, it also features its own seed garden. The 32mm diameter hole will encourage residency from Blue tits, Coal tits Marsh tits, Great tits, Nuthatches, House sparrows, Tree sparrows and many other small bird species.

There’s a removable hatch on the reverse to enable you to clean the birdhouse after successful nesting.

So, is the birdhouse any good? Quality? Time to test it out!

Packaging and Contents.

The Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse comes packaged in a blue retail cardboard box which features product images and specifications printed on it. The box measures 23.0cm x 16.5cm x 17.0cm and weighs 810G.

Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse.

The Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse is blue in colour (a famous social media platform blue ?) and has grey detailing. The birdhouse is made from wood and measures 22.0cm in height x 15.0cm in width x 23.0cm in depth and weighs 580G. As mentioned before the hole diameter is 32mm, also the internal dimensions for the birds measures 13.0cm x 12.0cm x 15.0cm.

The birdhouse features a seed garden to the left, this area measures 8.5cm x 3.5cm x 2.5cm and features two drilled holes on the base for drainage. Also, a platform to the right enables your feathery guests to sit comfortably whilst munching on their breakfast.

On the back there’s a removable hatch, this enables you to clean and sanitise the birdhouse after nesting. To sanitise simply pour boiling water, which will kill parasites. There’s a hanging catch too, this allows you to hang the birdhouse to either a wall or fence post.

Quality.

Usually Oliphant is exceptionally good at producing top-quality items, but this isn’t the case with the Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse. The first noticeable thing is the windows, they’re not glued on straight.

But the second issue is much worse than simply a cosmetic problem. It involves a major issue with how the roof has been stapled to the main section of the birdhouse. A staple has not been properly put into place and is protruding, it will harm any bird entering the birdhouse.

I had to bend it backward using a screwdriver to ensure it was no longer sticking out. But not everyone would notice this, and this is something Oliphant need to investigate with immediate effect. This protruding staple will no doubt cause great harm to any birds entering the birdhouse, it could even kill them.

Conclusion.

I love the look of the Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse, it’s certainly cute looking. But the dangerous protruding staple is a massive disappointment from a brand who usually produce some top-notch quality goods. I have no doubt that Oliphant/Original Products will launch an investigation into this matter as this is something profoundly serious.

Would I recommend the birdhouse? I wouldn’t recommend the birdhouse that I have, if this major issue is a one off I most certainly would recommend the birdhouse. But as it stands there’s no way I can recommend this product. If you decide to purchase, please check the product over to ensure this issue is not present with your product.

Oliphant Update!

Oliphant have fully investigated this matter and I’m confident the birdhouse I have with the dangerous staple is a fluke, one off thing. They have confirmed that staples aren’t even used in the manufacturing process and can’t understand why this incident occurred. They’ve checked stock and can confirm all is safe and staple free. Fair play to them, they responded brilliantly to what is a harsh review and used it to quality check their stock to ensure this won’t be an issue for customers. Review score will change to reflect my confidence in their actions.

If you want the Oliphant Home Tweet Home Birdhouse for yourself, it’s available for purchase only on Amazon. The RRP for this product is £24.99.
