The EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera is not only a cute looking device but also a practical monitoring and recording camera too!
You can remotely stream live video and pan (345º), tilt (65º) your camera and view and control from any Smartphone, Tablet, and PC. The EsiCam Panda camera has a 112° wide-angle advanced glass lens, and features motion detection, alarm recording and night vision.
Packaging and Contents.
The EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera comes packaged very neatly in a faded Grey cardboard box. There’s product images and specifications printed on it too. The box measures 17.0cm x 16.0cm x 11.5cm and weighs 600G.
Upon opening the EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera box you’ll find the following items. 1x Camera, 1x EU Plug, 1x UK Plug Adapter, 1x USB Cable, 1x Power Extension Cable, 1x Mounting Bracket, 2x Wall Fixings, 1x Reset Pin, 1x English Written User Guide.
EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera.
The EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera is made from mixed plastic materials, the camera is White with Black detailing. The camera measures 12.0cm x 10.0cm x 10.0cm and weighs 230G.
At the front of the camera is where the lens is located as well as the lighting sensor. On the back of the camera you can see two wireless antennas, these are used to transmit video via a WiFi connection to your viewing device.
Also, on the back you will see some ports, these are (From Left to Right) the Network Input port, 1x TF/Micro SD Card, and 1x DC/5V Input Port.
On the bottom is the mounting screw for the mounting bracket. There is also a small reset hole where you can reset your camera if needed.
Using the Camera.
To use the EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera you firstly need to connect the camera to a 5V power supply using the 1M USB cable provided. If you need more cable you can use the extension cable which gives you a further 3M in cable length.
I would avoid using the below UK power adapter personally as they are dangerous, they don’t have a UK fuse installed, don’t conform to BS 1363-3:2016 or BS 8546:2016 and you can easily connect incorrect polarity including Live/Earth, Neutral/Earth and when connected correctly the EU plug is too heavy and comes away from the adapter which could cause some power issues at the least, or at worst some electrical power arcing!
Always use a reputable branded 5V USB power adapter!
LiveYes App.
The second thing you’ll need to do is download the LiveYes App from either the App Store for iOS users or from Google Play for Android users. Once downloaded you’ll need to open the App and set up an account using your email address and creating a password.
Now you’ll need to add the camera to your account to do this press the (+) icon at the top right of the screen and you’ll need to scan a QR code found on the bottom of the Panda camera if it’s there, mine wasn’t there so I had to search using the option “Add by CID”, the CID and Password information is located on the bottom of the Panda camera, input these details. Despite doing this twice i still couldn’t connect my camera.
Trying to Get Connected.
So I next tried to connect my camera using the “Search LAN” option, this will perform a scan of your local WiFi connection and hopefully connect the camera to your device, just press “Search Camera”. Despite doing this twice I got the following error message “No Cameras Found”.
I then saw an option on the bottom bar of the App which says “Camera AP”, upon opening this menu you get an option to “Add AP Camera” after pressing this button I was taken to my WiFi settings menu on my iPhone, and under the area of “Choose a Network” I saw my camera’s code, the code format looks a little like AAAA-AA1234567, now simply connect to this code, if successful you will get an alert from within the App to say the camera has been added.
Now on the main App menu press the same “Camera AP” menu and the screen will look a little different to before, there is a still product stock image, and just above that you will see the camera code and the Online status.
You can press the picture and it will load the live monitoring of the Panda camera.
Using the App.
Once you can see the live monitoring of the EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera they’re many options available to you on the screen. These are from left to right The Record Button, The Capture Button, Camera Sound Button, HD/FHD Image Button, and a Full Screen Button.
To pan the camera, you’ll need to swipe the screen either left or right, you’re able to pan to 345º. To tilt the camera, you’ll need to swipe either up or down, you’re able to tilt the camera to 65º.
You can even talk from your device and it plays aloud onto the camera. To do this press and hold the microphone button located in the middle of the menu option bar and speak aloud.
There is a menu setting button (When not in full-screen mode) located on the top right of the screen, in this menu you can change the name of the camera, change the camera password, and set up motion activated alarms and notifications.
Recording.
To record you’ll need to insert a TF/Micro SD card, you don’t get one supplied, I recommend a 64GB card.
You also do have the option to purchase and use cloud storage!
The EsiCam Baby Monitor Panda Camera does come with night vision too. This will automatically switch on when light levels are low, and the Infrared Lights will appear around the lens. The camera comes equipped with six Infrared Lights.

Conclusion.
I like the look and cute design of this camera. The setting up process is awkward and frustrating. Once actually connected the camera quality is good and the picture is clear and crisp. There’s some lag in terms of tilt and pan whilst viewing on a device though. Also, I don’t like the supplied power adapter, I’d rather EsiCam didn’t supply these and only packaged a USB power cable, the supplied adapters should be disposed of immediately and not used.
Overall I feel there’s better quality and easier to set up camera’s out there. But if you like the design of a Panda camera then this is the ideal camera for you!
