Today I’ll be reviewing some ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones. The style of these earphones is becoming more popular amongst both audio enthusiasts and amateurs alike.

ANBES promise deep bass, HD stereo and clear voice calls too.

You get a rechargeable case which basically acts as a powerbank, recharging your earphones whilst on the go.

But do these ANBES earphones sound any good? Are they comfortable? Time to test them out!

Packaging.

The ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones come neatly packaged in a Black outer cardboard box. The outer box measures 10.0cm x 10.0cm x 4.0cm and weighs 145G.

ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones.

The ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones are small, each one has a silicone textured finish to them over a plastic moulded body. They measure 2.0cm x 2.5cm and each one weighs only 6G. The middle ANBES logo area is also a multi-function button that can control both music and power options.

The charging case is compact and houses the two earphones in a specially designed place, the case measures (with the lid closed) 5.7cm x 3.5cm x 2.5cm and weighs (without the earphones) 34G.

On the reverse of the charging case is a Micro USB port, this is needed so you can charge up the case. The supplied Micro USB cable measures 21.0cm in length. This cable is too short to be of any real use, but any generic Micro USB cable will do the trick. You’ll need to charge the case using any 5V DC power source, you can charge it using the USB port on your laptop, TV, mobile phone adapter, you can even use a powerbank!

Setting up the Earphones.

The ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones are shipped to you with a protective tape covering the charging contacts on both earphones. You need to pull off this tape and re-insert them into the charging case.

You get LED charging lights on the front of the charging case to indicate both charging status and battery life of the case itself.

Once charged, which takes around 2 hours to fully charge both earphones, you’ll need to perform a first-time Bluetooth search and pair. I say first-time as once done, every time you remove your ANBES 358’s from the case they automatically connect to your device.

To perform a first-time Bluetooth pairing, remove the earphones from the charging case, go to your Bluetooth enabled device and perform a search. Locate the option ‘ANBES 358’ and confirm pairing. That’s it!

To power them off you can manually do it by pressing and holding both multi-function buttons at the same time, you’ll hear a ‘Whoosh’ sound to confirm they’re off. Or to automatically turn them off just insert them back into the charging case.

Wearing Them.

Each earphone has a R or L emblem which indicates correct ear insertion. Insert the ANBES 358 earphones the same way as you would with a standard wired earphone. To keep them in place slightly twist them upward and they should sit in your inner canal without any discomfort and without slipping about. If they do move, you might need to change the ear tips to either the smaller pair or the slightly larger pair. To change these simply pull them off the end of the earbud and push the new one on.

Sound Quality of the ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones.

I was keeping an open mind when it came to playing audio through the ANBES 358’s for the first time. I’ve reviewed both good and bad wireless earphones on this site and was praying that they’d be good.

And…

Relief, they sound fantastic, very punchy bass and high-quality sound is produced from a mixture of genres and of course my personal favourite Sean Paul tracks sounded crisp and clear.

You also don’t get any sound distortion when you increase the volume either.

The multi-function button is advertised as being to control track selection, but on my iPhone 7 it didn’t work. I found I was able to activate Siri and Mute/Play audio but wasn’t able to control any track selections. I’m not sure if I’m using a faulty pair or that function simply doesn’t work for Apple devices.

The ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones also come with a built-in microphone, so you can answer telephone calls directly using them. The microphone is OK, not the best I’ve tried but adequate to understand and communicate on a call.

Battery and Other Features.

ANBES advertise a battery life of 4 hours for the earphones, but that simply isn’t true, you’re lucky if you get two full hours before they simply shut down and require recharging.

The charging case can indeed live upto the advertised 4 charges before it needs to be recharged itself (Which takes around 2 hours).

ANBES say you can get 16 hours of play time out of a single charge on the charging case based on 4 hours of playtime and 4 charges in the charging case. But the actual playtime is 8 hours based on 2 hours of playtime and 4 charges in the charging case.

Noise Cancellation, or lack of it is a major problem with the ANBES 358’s, you can literally hear all background noises and these noises distract you from your audio.

But on a positive note Noise Isolation is very good, nobody around you can hear your Sean Paul tracks.

The operating Bluetooth range is better than ANBES state, they say you should get around 10M of obstacle free range, I found you get closer to 15M. But, if you obstruct either earphone whilst in use the signal will become unstable, even covering each one with your hand can do it!

Although these are great for music, they can sometime be laggy and out of sync when it comes to watching videos, I’d say around 0.5s behind the actual voice.

Conclusion.

I’m in two minds with the ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones. On one hand they do sound fantastic and on the other they lack noise cancellation, have syncing issue’s with video, and the lack of controls make them a little disappointing.

They’re comfortable and don’t feel too heavy in your inner ear, and over a long period of time they’re still comfortable.

I like the automatic pairing mode, but just wish they lasted longer than two hours before needing to be recharged.

Overall, I can’t rate them enough for audio quality, you get some punch bassy tones that usually is missing from these types of earphones. If ANBES could improve the battery life, noise cancellation and sort out the syncing issues then these would be up there as a fantastic pair of earphones.

If you want the ANBES 358 Wireless Earphones for yourself, they’re available for purchase only on Amazon. The RRP for this product is £39.99.
